Barkin as Annette Atkins in "Drop Dead Gorgeous"Will I check them out? Will you tune in?
My opinions are marked with +++, and a NO or YES
Parenthood (NBC): An updated television series based on Ron Howard's feature film starring Steve Martin and a young Keanu Reeves (1989). The TV series will be an hour long dramedy that will feature new characters and updated storylines, but will keep the movie's overall theme: Parenting.
+++Much rather watch the condensed 2 hour film rather than an anthology series, plus Steve Martin is the bomb.com+++ NO
Threesome (ABC): A comedy which revolves around a 30 something guy who is "caught between his girlfriend, a single mother and his slacker best friend."
+++They had me at threesome+++ YES
Untitled Ellen Barkin HBO project (HBO): "a woman famous for her high-profile marriage who divorces and re-enters the singles market and finds herself developing a close, platonic bond with the 24-year-old son of her ex-husband."
+++To summarize, it's about a Cougar (term meaning 45+ year old woman out an out on the prowl for a younger man, urbandictionary.com.) Ever since I watched Barkin play the trailer park mom in Drop Dead Gorgeous, I know she is the perfect lady for the role.+++ YES
Boardwalk Empire (HBO): The drama pilot will be directed by Martin Scorsese. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it "centers on Nucky Johnson (Steve Buscemi), who runs a liquor distribution ring at the onset of Prohibition, and Jimmy Darmody (Michael Pitt), a ruthless World War I veteran and a low-level flunky for Nucky."
+++Buscemi plus liquor plus Scorsese plus HBO---a sweet mixed drink+++ YES
Lost in the 80s (NBC): "described as Fast Times at Ridgemont High meets The Ice Storm"
+++If it's anything like The Wonder Years or wrongfully cancelled Freaks and Geeks, this is my top grade choice for next season.+++YES
