Now for today's historical lesson. Trust me, read on. It's a good one.
Back in the beginning of film, to attract the audience to buy popcorn, sody pop, and other concessional fare, the projectionist would slip in a thin, one second strip of a particular food to trick the viewers brain into buying a particular item.
A modern demonstration is shown in David Fincher's Fight Club where Tyler Durden would slip in pornographic images into family films. Also, at the end of Fight Club there is a one second image of the male "member" on the screen.
How are the Super Bowl and my history lesson connected?
Well.....
Miller High Life will show 1 second Ads during the Super Bowl Sunday. The spots include a Miller Delivery man yelling phrases such as "Happy can" and "pigskin gravy."
To intrigue the audience prior to these 1 second ads playing during the Super Bowl, High Life has launched the website: www.1SecondAd.com
Check it out. Here is a video of the various clips that didn't make the cut..which can also be viewed at the website:
What do you think, is this a good idea? 1 second ads spots vs. 30 second ads with the price tag of $3mil?
