The Brando Syndrome

Olivia, what is this "Brando Syndrome" you speak of? Well let me show you using images from three fantastic actors. 

Let's start with the man who coined the term, "The Brando Syndrome." My heart melted at the words, "I could have been a contender" in one of my favorite Brando films On the Waterfront. He was sexy, average joe, and eye candy. mmm look at those seductive eyes..



Let's jump forward 18 years to one of my other favorite Brando films, The Godfather.

look at those dark, sinister, eyes...

One can obviously see the difference.

Now let's study Robert Redford.

And finally: The protege of Brando and Redford: ol' Missouri boy Brad Pitt

Maybe that's why I loved Pitt's latest: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button... he ages backwards... hello 1990s!

Looks aside, these three men are excellent actors. Brando is a legend, Redford has reputable acting skills, a nice little project on the side called "Sundance Film Festival", and Pitt proved that he wasn't just a pretty face (clearly.) While their acting had and continues to progress, it is quite unfortunate that their looks regressed.

And that folks, is the definition of "The Brando Syndrome."
