"Once in a few years, an episode comes around that.. CHAN...GES... EVERYTHING"
I rolled my eyes, and thought to myself "Wow, how dramatic can we get? Do you want some cheap wine with that stinky cheese?"
After watching the episode, I would like to apologize to the marketing team of Fox by sending them Champagne and Brie.
Wow.
The episode was absolutely amazing. It was one of the most brilliant episodes I can remember seeing from any television show. The last one may derive from a Rod Serling Twilight Zone episode.
--------------SPOILERS BELOW----------------------
What made this episode worthy of becoming one of televisions greatest moments, was not the shocking death of Kutner, and not even that it was a suicide, but how Dr. Gregory House reacted to the incident.
It was one case he could not solve.
P.S. Don't expect another twist, Kal Penn, the actor who played Dr. Kutner has left the show permanently. He is moving to Washington D.C. to work in the White House for our President Obama.
As much as I love House, M.D. the formula for the typical episode goes something like this:
Opening Sequence: Watch a person collapse/seize/bleed/yell/vomit usually in a public place
Intro: "Teardrops" by Massive Attack --- one of the best intros ever
Plot:
- Brainstorming on white board
- House bashing one of the three MD's for the day
- a visit to Cameron in ER
- Cuddy/House playground flirting
- Patient misdiagnosed for the 10th time
- 5 min remaining in episode: House sees a cat/object/ and gets a revelation.
- Case Solved just in time!
- Patient Lives
- Dr. House limps out of hospital... alone
Throughout last night's episode, House tried to solve the Kutner Case. House investigated the "crime scene" (House did not accept that Kutner took his own life, he believed it was a conspiracy and that he was in fact, murdered.) House also visited his parents, and scrimmaged through his personal belongings hoping to find some clear resolution.
Like in real life, the decision commit an act on oneself is unclear.
This episode was realistic, allowed the cold hearted Gregory House to emotionally relate to the television viewer (finally), and...
To remind all the viewers at home:
A suicide is an act something that no one can fully understand. Not even House.
